]]> http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?feed=rss2&p=1209 0 John Mittelstadt http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1170 http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1170#comments Mon, 02 Aug 2010 20:34:03 +0000 Elisabeth http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1170 John just served his 5th year as coordinator at Our Shepherd Lutheran in Birmingham.  He elicits the help of over 150 volunteers from multiple congregations throughout the community to help serve SOS clients each year.  When Our Shepherd’s host week is over, John designs a personal artistic thank you note for each volunteer.  These have been meaningful statements to each person sharing the value of their participation in the program.  John is also a Chaplain’s Assistant at the Oakland County Jail.  He goes  four times per week to meet with prisoners, pray with them, and share in Bible Study.   Truly, John has touched the lives of so many!

]]> http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?feed=rss2&p=1070 0 Judy Webb http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1064 http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1064#comments Fri, 02 Jul 2010 14:04:34 +0000 Elisabeth http://www.southoaklandshelter.org/?p=1064 “Ms. Judy” as she’s known to the SOS staff has been volunteering at SOS for the past 13 years.  She served on SOS’s Board of Directors for 6 years, but realized she wanted to do something more hands on.  At that time, she starting volunteering at SOS’s office.  Without fail, Ms. Judy comes to SOS every Wednesday to sort through donations!  She is a retired Finney High School teacher.  She taught government and history for 35 years!  Ms. Judy has been a member at Sacred Heart for 30 years and enjoys spending time with her pets, including a horse named Horse Shoe!
